Our Philosophy

Enhancing who you are, never who you are not.

Every journey with Refine Lifestyles begins with a conversation. We listen to what you would like to change, why it matters to you, and how you hope to feel in the months and years ahead. Only then do we suggest a plan, one shaped around your natural proportions rather than a passing trend.

We believe in honest advice, given gently. If a procedure isn't right for you, or isn't right yet, we will tell you. Discretion, safety and unhurried care are simply how we work.

Clear, honest information on the procedures women across Kent ask about most. Figures are typical UK guidance; your surgeon will explain exactly what applies to you.

Breast augmentation in Kent

Breast implants are placed either behind the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle, through an incision near or beneath the breast, to increase size or change shape.

Recovery

Most people are up and about soon after surgery. Avoid driving for at least a week, and heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for at least a month. Many surgeons recommend a supportive sports bra day and night for up to three months. Most normal activities resume at around six weeks, and breasts usually look and feel more natural after a few months.

Worth knowing

  • Implants are not lifetime devices. Some people need further surgery around ten years later.
  • Risks include capsular contracture (scar tissue hardening around the implant), rupture, rippling and changes in nipple sensation.
  • BIA-ALCL, a rare cancer of the immune system, has been linked to breast implants.
  • Implants can reduce milk production if you breastfeed in future.
  • Implants should be recorded on the national Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry, so you can be traced if a safety concern ever arises.

Private, no-obligation consultations for patients across Kent.

Every operation carries risk. All surgery carries some risk, including bleeding, blood clots, infection and a reaction to the anaesthetic. Some people are unhappy with their result and feel they need further surgery. Your surgeon should talk you through the risks of your procedure in detail before you agree to anything.

Before You Decide

Is surgery the right choice for you?

The best outcomes start with the right reasons and realistic expectations. Before you book, it's worth asking yourself a few honest questions.

  1. Why do I want this?

Make sure the decision is yours, not a response to pressure from a partner, friends or social media. How you feel about your appearance is only one part of your wellbeing.

  2. Are my expectations realistic?

Surgery can change the shape of a feature. It can't guarantee how you'll feel, and every result is individual. Your surgeon should be honest about what is achievable.

  3. Is this the right time?

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and changes in weight can all affect results, particularly after breast and tummy procedures. If you're planning a family or still losing weight, talk this through first.

  4. Have I spoken to my GP?

Your GP is a good place to start. With your consent, your surgeon may also keep your GP informed about your care.

  5. Can I plan my recovery?

Most procedures need at least a week or two away from work, and after a general anaesthetic someone must take you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours.

  6. Have I seen past the feed?

Clinics and procedures promoted on social media deserve extra care. Influencers are often paid to advertise.

If the honest answer to any of these is "not yet", that's absolutely fine. You can walk away at any stage, even after a consultation.

What should a quote include?

A clear quote should tell you exactly what you're paying for. Before you agree to anything, check whether it covers:

  • your surgeon's and anaesthetist's fees
  • the facility where your surgery takes place, including any overnight stay
  • implants or other devices, where used
  • follow-up appointments and aftercare
  • what happens, and what it costs, if further or revision surgery is ever needed

Choosing Well

The most important choice is who you trust.

Whoever you choose, a few simple checks will help you make a safe and informed decision. We encourage every patient to make them.

  • The Surgeon's Registration

Your surgeon should be on the GMC specialist register for plastic surgery, which you can search at gmc-uk.org.

  • Where You'll Have Surgery

Wherever your surgery takes place should be registered with the Care Quality Commission. You can check at cqc.org.uk.

  • Who Will Operate

The surgeon performing your procedure should be the person who discusses it with you and asks for your consent, not a coordinator or salesperson.

  • Time to Decide

The GMC and BAAPS recommend allowing at least two weeks between consultation and surgery. You can change your mind at any point. Be wary of time-limited offers.

  • A Clear Quote

Ask exactly what the price includes, from aftercare to the cost of any revision surgery.

  • Implant Records

If you're having implants, check they will be recorded on the national Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry.

  • Surgery Abroad

Consider how follow-up care would work once you're home. The NHS advises against flying for five to seven days after breast surgery or liposuction, and seven to ten days after facial surgery or a tummy tuck.

  • The Questions That Matter

Ask about recovery, risks, and what happens if further treatment is ever needed.

Your Questions

Questions, answered with care.

How much does cosmetic surgery cost?

Every plan is bespoke, so pricing depends on your procedure. As a guide, the NHS puts typical UK prices at £3,500 to £8,000 for breast augmentation and £4,000 to £7,000 for rhinoplasty. Following your consultation, you will receive a clear, written quote.

Where are consultations held?

We welcome patients from across Kent, including Maidstone, Canterbury, Tunbridge Wells, Sevenoaks, Ashford and Medway. Consultations and procedures take place at private facilities, and our patient care team will confirm the location for your appointment when they get in touch.

What happens at my first consultation?

An unhurried conversation with your surgeon about your health, your goals and your options, including the risks and recovery involved. There is no obligation to proceed.

How long is the cooling-off period?

The GMC and BAAPS recommend at least two weeks between your consultation and your surgery, so you have time to reflect. You can change your mind at any point.

How long do breast implants last?

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. Some people need further surgery around ten years after their first operation, because of changes to the implant or the breast. Your surgeon will talk you through the options.

How much time off work will I need?

It depends on the procedure and your job. As a guide, around one to two weeks after breast augmentation, up to two weeks after rhinoplasty, and four to six weeks after a tummy tuck.

When can I fly after surgery?

Flying soon after surgery increases the risk of blood clots. The NHS advises waiting five to seven days after breast surgery or liposuction, and seven to ten days after facial surgery or a tummy tuck. Always follow your surgeon's advice.

Can I breastfeed after breast surgery?

Breast implants can reduce milk production, and a breast reduction can sometimes make breastfeeding impossible. If you hope to breastfeed in future, discuss this with your surgeon before deciding.

Is liposuction a weight-loss treatment?

No. Liposuction removes stubborn pockets of fat and works best for people close to a healthy weight with firm, elastic skin. It won't remove cellulite or stretch marks.

When will I see my final result?

Swelling takes time to settle: often around three months after breast surgery and up to six months after rhinoplasty or liposuction. The shape after a breast uplift can continue to settle for about a year.

Is cosmetic surgery available on the NHS?

Surgery to change appearance alone isn't usually available on the NHS. Some procedures, such as breast reduction, may be offered where they relieve health problems. Criteria vary by area, so speak to your GP.

Is there a minimum age?

Consultations are available to adults aged 18 and over.

Do I need a GP referral?

No referral is needed to book a private consultation. With your consent, your surgeon may write to your GP about your care, as GMC guidance encourages.

Is my enquiry confidential?

Completely. Your details are used only to respond to your enquiry and are handled in line with our Privacy Policy.
